Lilacs are probably my favorite of all the spring blossoms… maybe even of all flowers.  I  look forward to the shrubs blooming, to cutting the blossoms and bringing them into my home, to smelling their divine fragrance and  last but not least, to painting them!  I paint at least one still life with lilacs every year, and this time I decided to paint them in a rusty antique pitcher.  I love the contrast of the voluptuous blossoms with the simplicity of the pitcher.
