John Singer Sargent's "Ruth Sears Bacon" was on exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC a couple of years ago, and the gift shop was selling themed merchandise.  I couldn't resist purchasing the vintage style dress and big blue ribbon with the intention of painting a portrait of my granddaughter when she turned two.  Inspired by the Sargent's painting, I placed Avery in a white upholstered chair for a photo shoot.  This pose captured our little wise one perfectly!
